Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is not celebrated in Ecuador, but it is a tradition for our family. So today will be not the last Thanksgiving to spend together, but the last family get-together we will share at my mother’s house here in Quito, were all big family celebrations have taken place for the last four decades!

The extended family will be here, and a few close friends who have been a part of our celebration over the years. I imagine it will be emotional as we look back over the years and remember how good this place has been to us. I am so deeply grateful for what has been a safe and happy home, where we have built a strong family.

My gratitude, however, is not limited to my beautiful family. This has been an incredibly good year for me in the quilting world. Work has been so good, with new partners coming into the picture. Best of all, however, have always been and continue to be the quilting friends all over the world who visit us, often becoming members of our website, sending supportive e-mails and comments. My techie son Jared and I are truly grateful for your support.

And so I just wanted to take a few minutes out of a hectic day to say THANK YOU to you all. Your presence in my life means so much. Thank you, thank you.

Any time we get together with our family is a day of Thanksgiving, not matter where we live or what day it is. I hope you and your family will be able to find homes that will be new beginnings and new traditions.

We also don’t have a Thanksgiving tradition in my country, so we use Christmas or New Year to give thanks for the blessings received throughout the year. I give thanks for having find friends from around the world, such you and other quilters I’ve known by internet. Thank you very much, Angie, for your friendship and counseling.
Happy moving, Merry Xmas and a fabulous New Year for you and your family.
