Quilting classes

It has dawned on me that although I often talk about my quilting classes, so far I have never shared pictures of where they take place, or of any of my students.

I used to teach at home, but over the last year and a half I’ve been working with a local shop. By U.S. standards this is a teeny, tiny shop. But by Ecuadorian standards it is large. Although there are larger fabric stores, very few carry as wide a selection of cotton fabrics as at the shop where I teach – probably around 400 bolts of quilting fabrics.

I also spend a lot of $$$ at this shop! In addition to fabrics and the usual sewing notions, you can see on the entire back wall they carry a lovely assortment of ribbons and other trimmings, which are sold by the meter. Lovely, lovely…

They also carry a modest assortment of yarn. To the left you can see some of my quilted class samples. They tend to spread these around the shop. Right behind that wall is the classroom. You can see a couple of students on the right, through the doorway.

In part because the classroom is small and in part because I like to give a lot of individual attention, my classes are small: five people for any classes involving machine work and up to eight for workshops involving handwork.
