As in many other countries of the region, this is a long holiday weekend here in Ecuador, celebrating Carnival. A lot of people leave the city, particularly to go to the beach. As to myself, since I live my life doing what I most enjoy, the idea of going off on “vacation” is a strange one, indeed. My concept of how to enjoy the holiday involves being free from the routine of family obligations to dedicate time to sewing to my heart’s content. So that’s what I’m doing for the next four days…
My friend Bachita purchased the Mckenna Ryan Cucina Italiana series some time back, and has made that her sewing project for this first part of the year. She has asked me to quilt the first three pieces, so that’s on my to-do list this weekend.
Having never worked with fusible applique before, I am approaching this with some trepidation, particularly as this is someone else’s project, not mine. I’ve read the entire Help section of McKenna’s website, understand the concept, and am mentally prepared to start.
If you have any helpful insights… that would be VERY APPRECIATED! 🙂
