Healthy Envy

Hmmm… is there such a thing as healthy envy? Well, this is an expression we use a lot in Spanish to indicate admiration for another person’s accomplishment. And in our Thursday sewing circle we find we use it repeatedly when it comes to our friend Mariangela.

I mean, she is a quilting machine! Every week she shows up with one or two new projects. And I don’t mean just new… I mean finished!!! She modestly says she has a lot of time on her hands and loves to sew. I should say!

So one of this week’s finished projects is a lovely cover for a cushion. Simple, but striking.

And then she made this lovely, lovely needle case. This, too, is from the book Omiyage: Handmade Gifts in the Japanese Tradition.

I am a self-learner. I taught myself to sew and to quilt. And I taught myself how to draw. I love to dye my own fabrics, am a fanatic of free-motion quilting, and dabble with mixed media. I am a quilt designer and teacher, and design and publish my own line of quilt patterns. With this blog I would like to share the bits and pieces of my life.
