Have you ever found yourself in a situation where ideas flow so quickly it actually becomes hard to focus and stick to one project and one project alone? Yeah. Well that’s what’s been happening to me this week.
I started working on a simple project, which shouldn’t have taken more than half an hour to complete. Yet I felt it needed something else. You know… some oomph to make it special… So I started pulling out more fabrics, fussy cutting here and there. Things started to look a little more interesting, but I still wasn’t quite achieving the concept. Time to turn to the computer to produce *exactly* what’s in my mind. Of course, by then hours have gone by and I haven’t made much headway with the actual sewing. But I’m getting closer and at least I have my various elements all together now.
So this particular project will be made in several sizes. While I’m working on different ideas for it, it comes to mind that it just won’t work in a very small size. So I start to wonder what I could do in an itty bitty size. Naturally, I’m now distracted from the original project, as ideas whirl in my mind with lightning speed and I turn back to the computer to draw. I print out an initial idea on paper and play around with it. I like it and am about to start sewing a prototype. And then I start thinking… what if…? And of course end up drawing some more. At this point I must have seven or eight variations on an original idea. And some very odd shapes, indeed.
So I am forcing myself right now to turn some loud rockin’ music on (perfect for sewing), try to turn my overactive mind off, and get to sewing! I can’t wait to share instructions for these projects… maybe even this week. If my brain will only behave! (:
