Follow Friday: Make a Boob

Nina Lise is from Norway. Also known as Mrs. Moen, she took it upon herself last year to start a support and awareness raising project related to breast cancer.

Incredibly enough, there has been no one in my own life affected by breast cancer. But I have lost a father and two brothers to lymphoma/leukemia, so am most certainly aware of how devastating this disease (cancer) is. You just never know when it will hit close to you.

Nina Lise’s idea is really, really cool, so I hope you will consider getting involved. First, there will be workshops offered for people with breast cancer, where they can decorate the “boobs” she is collecting right now. This is an important form of support. And then there will be other workshops to raise awareness, also involving the making of more “boobs.” And finally, there will be a Make a Boob Art show.

You can participate in different ways: preparing plain ones that will be used in the workshops, or different embellished ones can be used as inspiration. Obviously, it would be important to help Nina Lise with as many plain boobs as possible, to help her reach her goal of 1,000 boobs by the end of March. Let’s get going!

Thanks for sharing insights on this project Angie. Great project and so easy to participate. I am also thinking this is a great project that will create traveling exhibits that can tour quilt shows around the world, with supportive workshops.

I’d love to see every quilter and quilt artist contribute “boobs” to this project.
