I had a long conversation over the phone yesterday with my favorite (and only!) grandson, Julian. He is now 8, and quite a delightful young man. Oh, so full of information about his interests, including movies, games, dogs, riding his bicycle and music. He even “writes” his own songs in his head and plays them to me over the phone. I truly enjoy these conversations – just wish there weren’t so much physical distance between us because I feel like squeezing him when we talk.
One of the things he told me yesterday was that he hadn’t been able to go out and play in the snow this week because he couldn’t find his mitten. And then the request that I kindly make him some more and send them to him as soon as possible. So I naturally had to pause in my weekend sewing to pick up the knitting needles.
I hope he likes these funny little mittens. If you have a kid who would like some, too, you can find the pattern here.
