As I sit writing this, my daughter is sitting on a plane in the Milwaukee airport, taxiing to the runway and soon to lift off. How do I know this? Because for the past few hours I have been keeping her company via Skype. She has been sitting in the Milwaukee airport for several hours, on a rather long layover on her way back to Boston after visiting my brother in Omaha over the Christmas/New Year holiday. On top of the four-hour layover, the flight was delayed over two hours, so it’s turning into a long day for her.
It used to be that when someone traveled, leaving usually in the wee hours of the morning, we’d have to wait all day and into the evening for the call letting us know they had arrived safely. Today, however, I have been following my child around, and have known where she was. I knew she left Omaha on time and arrived in Milwaukee as scheduled. We even shared a meal together… a late lunch for her and an early supper for me. She watched a TV show and I watched the news. And in between she worked on a document and I drew some designs.
I never ceased to be amazed — and grateful — for this wonderful technology (the Internet) that helps bring us together.
I am a self-learner. I taught myself to sew and to quilt. And I taught myself how to draw. I am learning how to dye my own fabrics and am dabbling with mixed media. I am a quilt designer and teacher, and design and publish my own line of quilt patterns. With this blog I would like to share the bits and pieces of my life.

Oh, of course this is better than monitoring the flight in the airlines’ webpage.(That’s what I used to do when one of my kids are traveling) But this only let me know that the flight arrived ok, but not a personal information of my traveling child. Thanks for the comment.
