Christmas sneaking up!

I had a tiny panic attack Wednesday night when I realized our sewing circle would be meeting the following day for the last time before Christmas. Because of the hectic season, we have fallen into the habit of getting together between Christmas and New Year’s for our own holiday celebration, which involves a whole day of sewing and a super special lunch at our friend Susy’s house, down in one of the valleys surrounding Quito.

In spite of this tradition of ours, I did want to give each one of them a little present before Christmas. And I wasn’t ready! So that evening I quickly cut out the pieces needed to make four fabric bowls and then sewed them together early yesterday morning before our weekly get-together. Thank goodness for quick project ideas like this one!

I used fabrics that most seem to reflect each friend’s taste…

…then filled each one with my homemade soap…

and wrapped each one in some lovely Christmas organza! Nothing fancy, but gifts from the heart. (-:

Otherwise we had a regular sewing day. Actually, I’m the one still knitting (another sweater). But my friends continue to work steadily on their dove projects.

And then our friend Mariangela joined us from Italy. She Skyped us, so we sat her down at the table and carried on as if she were still sitting here with us in the flesh. Isn’t the technology just wonderful?!?
