Crocheted napkin holders

I am now approaching 100% Christmas mode (as I sit hear listening to Josh Groban’s Noel album… full blast). And I haven’t even started decorating the house. That will have to wait until the 15th, when Alexia and Julian arrive. For me, Christmas is really about family time, and especially about doing things with the kids. So from the 16th on, I expect we will all be in full Christmas mode. 🙂

In the meantime, preparations are underway. Today, the decision for our sewing circle was to set sewing aside for a little, and pull out our crochet hooks. We each finished a sample star napkin holder. I decided to try mine out right away, to see what it looks like in a place setting.

Pretty, pretty. Last year, there were only three of us for Christmas breakfast (the MOST important Christmas meal in this family). At this point, I’m counting eight of us… maybe even nine. Or perhaps twelve. Anyway you look at it, twelve is a good number to make as a set. So I have three of these already made. My goal is to complete the whole set over the weekend. Sorry, Mom. No surprise here, but this is one of your Christmas gifts. 🙂

If you would like to try your hand at making this unique and lovely napkin holder, you will find the pattern here. A word of warning: this website sometimes takes forever to load. Patience. It is really worth the trouble. Enjoy!
