Crochet Mandalas

I learned to crochet at my grandmother’s knee, at only 5 years old. And though quilting is my passion, crochet continues to be a big part of my world.

At day’s end, when I’m watching the news or enjoying a movie, I usually crochet. So there’s always a new project underway. Lately I’ve been trying to use up lots of small leftovers from other projects. So I thought I’d try my heart at some mandalas.

These are basically doilies, but instead of the traditional white, you do colors!

I tried a couple of different patterns, but they were still too small for what I had in mind. Not to worry, though… I’ll find a use for them in the kitchen.

And then I finally found one that fit my purpose. I appliqued it onto a quilted background… and turned it into a cushion cover!

Quite lovely, don’t you think?
