I hadn’t been downtown for a couple of months. In fact, the last time I went was the week before Jamie left. I finally made it down there yesterday. Every time I find myself in the colonial part of the city I am reminded of how beautiful it is. Although it was kind of strange for me to find myself on this outing alone yesterday… for the last few years, Fridays have been the days that Jamie and I spend doing this together…
I guess I’m going to have to get used to doing this by myself. Because this is the best part of town to shop for some of my sewing notions. For example, zippers here go for 8 cents a piece, whereas in the north part of the city where I live the same zipper sells for 30 cents. My main purpose yesterday was to buy some yarn. This same yarn sells for 4 to 5 times more in other parts of the city. I stopped by our favorite shop… the hardest part is choosing! This is only about a third of their selection. The shop was quite full, so any other shot would have had more heads than yarn in them. But this gives you an idea.
I am quite pleased with my purchases. I bought enough yarn for two sweaters (at $1.30 a skein!). And of course I had to get something green to make Jamie another pair of gloves and a hat!
Isn’t this yarn beautiful! If only you could feel how soft it is, too!
