I am not really that much into baby projects. I don’t really like the *typical* soft pastels used traditionally for baby quilts and other projects, and the few baby quilts I have made in the past have always been bold and bright.
In addition, there hadn’t been a baby in the family for almost a decade. And in our circle of friends, one or two babies over that entire period. So not much baby sewing to speak of. In spite of all this, last October I came across a book I just HAD TO HAVE! I know… it’s kind of crazy, with no babies on the horizon, but it’s just one of those things I needed to do.
Take a closer look… do you see what she’s holding in her hand? Aren’t they awesome? And this is the true reason why I bought this book. For these booties alone!
Almost two months later, my niece announced at our family Christmas dinner that she was expecting a baby in May. (Her new little daughter was born three days ago!) So, you see, it was obviously pre-ordained for me to buy this book. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was soon going to be able to use it!
For regular followers of my blog, you know that over the past months I have made several projects for this baby. But I still hadn’t gotten around to these booties. Well, this week I finally did. And I have to say I love this pattern and can see there will be several more on the way. I think this might just become my favorite gift for a new baby. I love the big buttons. In my case, I used coconut buttons manufactured locally.
Now, even though I bought the book for these booties alone, I have to say there isn’t a single project in it that I don’t love. I don’t think I will (ever) be making any of the garments for an expectant and/or nursing mother, but I could easily see myself making everything else in this book. And two other things I love about it: it is ring bound and it comes with a sleeve in the back with full-size patterns (why, oh, why don’t other publishers do this???)!!! And the price is incredible!
Other projects I will definitely be making over the next few weeks:
And others on the list for the future, as this baby grows:
There is a full review for this book with a video on Amazon, if you are interested:

Angie, they are the sweetest little booties I’ve ever seen. I have to look out for that book. I must admit the other things are fantastic too, but those booties………………WOW!
The booties are so cute! Looks like a very useful (and fun) book!
