A different kind of Valentine?

Do you love hearts? I do! In quilts, be they appliqué or pieced. Or made out of wood, ceramic, or any other medium. And in any color. 🙂 Read More »

Priceless

It’s that time of year and it’s been raining for days around here. When that happens the temperature goes down and we start to get rather chilly. And no, not the low temperatures that all of you folks endure in areas with snow. The difference here is that since the cold rarely goes to below zero, we do not live with central heating systems. Still drawing

This morning I actually sat down and did some hand quilting. That’s the first sewing I’ve done in over two weeks. Because I’m still drawing, and then drawing some more. Read More »

An old project revisited

I don’t know if this happens to you, too, but sometimes when I look at some of the first quilts I made… I cringe. And in spite of the saying that practice makes perfect, I personally never feel I really “get there” with my quilting. And although I am always tempted to push myself a little too hard at times, I am trying to learn to relax a bit more. These days I try to approach my own quilting experience with an open mind, simply enjoying the learning. But sometimes I just can’t let things be… Read More »

Printing with sunlight

Jamie’s boyfriend, Carlos is a very talented photographer. I am not, but I guess our common love of art really brings us together and we find we have a lot to share. He recently pointed out this product to me, and I have to admit I am completely intrigued… Read More »

Christmas sewing and knitting revealed

You will recall that during December there was very little I was able to share in the sewing/quilting/knitting department, as I was working on “top secret” Christmas presents. I am happy to say that not only was I able to make all the presents on my list, but I actually finished them on time, with plenty of time to spare. No last minute rushing… yeah! Read More »

Happy New Year

I would like to thank you all for a wonderful year of visiting back and forth, for all the sharing and learning that has taken place in this space. At the risk of REALLY showing my age and embarrassing my children and grandchildren, I would like to wish you a truly Happy New Year, reflected in the music of one of my favorite groups… way back in the seventies. And, appropriately enough, this is the Spanish version of the song. 🙂 Read More »

I am a self-learner. I taught myself to sew and to quilt. And I taught myself how to draw. I love to dye my own fabrics, am a fanatic of free-motion quilting, and dabble with mixed media. I am a quilt designer and teacher, and design and publish my own line of quilt patterns. With this blog I would like to share the bits and pieces of my life.
