What’s going in with those I love the most

A bit more on the extension

Building an extension

More than a year after leaving our life in Quito we all seem to have finally settled in our new homes or locations. That is, Jamie and Carlos will most likely be staying in the apartment they’ve been living in, and my mother will definitely be staying in our country cottage in the valley of […]

I’ve been caught!

This is the message I received from Jared this morning: “Just so you know, I do read your blog every now and then…. :)”

Thai Cooking

My sweet child and only  favorite daughter Jamie loves to cook. Let me put it this way: cooking is her quilting. (Ok, she likes to crochet, too! 🙂 )

An Alternative Wedding Ceremony

I know… it’s time. Friends and relatives who were not able to be at Jamie and Carlos’ wedding have clamored for photos. It’s taken me long enough, so let me make up for it with this post.

A July wedding

As some of you know, the last month was particularly busy for our family. Two weeks ago Jamie, my youngest child  and only daughter, married her boyfriend of two years, Carlos. Here’s their cute “Save the Date” photo:

I am happy to say that not only was I able to make all the presents on my list, but I actually finished them on time, with […]

A finished quilt

We had a really nice Christmas. . This year it was about family. Yet even our “little family” still involved 10 people! 🙂 And now that all the gifts have been delivered, I can reveal the sewing and knitting that took place during November and December. That is… of those items I actually remembered to […]

Cangrejada

Jared (son #2) and his girlfriend, Karina, invited us all over to their place yesterday for an all-day crab fest. Yes, that’s what we know as a cangrejada. So I thought I would share a few images today of some typical Ecuadorian seafood.

I am a self-learner. I taught myself to sew and to quilt. And I taught myself how to draw. I am learning how to dye my own fabrics and am dabbling with mixed media. I am a quilt designer and teacher, and design and publish my own line of quilt patterns. With this blog I would like to share the bits and pieces of my life.
