A little more insanity

I love quiet weekends when I am actually able to dedicate several hours at a time to sewing! And on this particular weekend I have actually been able to get quite a bit done.

Halfway insane and a tree full of owls

Our sewing circle met again today… and yet I forgot to take photos. This week everybody decided to leave the afghans we are crocheting aside, and work on them in the evenings, as it isn’t as hard on the eyes as sewing is. Thursdays, therefore, will be dedicated  to working on the Insane About Baltimore […]

Are you an EQ Junkie?

And –like me– do you absolutely love coffee? First thing in the morning, with desert at noon, and even late at night?

Hexagon Critters

Hexagons continue to be a craze. And it looks like they are here to stay. These days I see quite a variety of techniques being shared. I always look into them, but sad to say (am I too rigid?)… I’m still sticking to my own. It just what works the best for me.

Insane About Baltimore: Block 1

I often get comments about how small some of my designs are. All I can say that there are two reasons for that: ignorance and the lack of wall space for larger projects!

Coexist

Between one project and another, Alexia has finished her little wall hanging. This little piece has been important in her quilting experience because it has involved learning new techniques. To begin, the background fabric was one of the pieces she prepared with tie dyeing. She added a few tiny scraps of fabric and ribbon in […]

Hoo hoo hoot… and a final countdown

As I write, my “babies” (daughter Jamie, with her niece Alexia and nephew Julian) are sitting on a plane flying out of D.C. that will bring them home tonight. I am overjoyed and excited and can hardly sit still with the waiting. In another nine hours they will most probably be home and tucked in […]

More hooting owls

I’d almost forgotten to share these from our sewing circle last Thursday. This is the latest on my friends’ owl projects… aren’t they cute? They sure are moving along with this project!

Help with fraying in your appliqué project?

Every time someone comes down to Quito for a visit I take advantage and have them bring down what I consider are my essential notions and supplies. This time my brother was kind enough to pack a little bag of goodies for me I had ordered and had sent to him. For someone who doesn’t […]

Can this get any cuter?

I must say, it really is fun watching my friends’ progress as they work on a project together. Every week brings surprises, and I am always in awe of their magnificent appliqué skills. Today has been no exception. Just check these hooting owls!

Hooting Owls

Now that the dove wallhangings are finished, my friends have become busy with their new owl projects. I thoroughly enjoy being able to see them work on one of my designs… it is particularly fun to see how each one evolves differently.

Last finished Dove and a fun day of sewing

This past Thursday our friend Luchita brought her finished Dove wall hanging to share. I just love the way each wall hanging turned out so differently because of the different fabrics each of my friends chose. Isn’t this a cheery Dove?

Country Cups

It’s a good feeling to finish a project, isn’t it. Particularly when you’ve had it sitting around for a while. This weekend’s project was to finish my Country Cups wall hanging. I mean, it’s only taken me three months to do so.
