What I most enjoy doing with my time!

‘PEHCHAAN’ – THE DISCERNING EYE

Mi niece, Ana Lía, sent me the link to this wonderful video. This form of quilting is different, and so, so beautiful, it needs to be shared. Enjoy! 🙂

A little EPP bragging

And no, it isn’t about me and my 1,100 EPP hexagons. This time it is about that amazingly talented niece of mine!

A growing Rhapsody quilt. And a “little” hand sewing.

My niece Ana Lía is on a semester break, so last weekend she came down for a visit and to finish the applique on her Rhapsody quilt.

A little embellishing fun

Well, a full three weeks have gone by before I actually got around to finishing this little project. Family and work do come first, and it’s been busy on those fronts. But I did find a little time this weekend to add some beads and buttons to this little project.

Even more complex hexies

After my last post I recalled I have worked with a slightly different concept for pieced hexies before. Actually, they are even more complex than those Mickey Depre teaches in her Pieced Hexies class on Craftsy.

Pieced Hexies

Like many of you, I’m addicted to English Paper Piecing. And, yes, hexagons still are my favorite shape to work with, although every now and then I do enjoy breaking away from them a little, and incorporating other shapes.

Right foot forward

Quilters/sewers are know to be… collectors. Of all things sewing-related. I admit to this.

Oh me, oh my!

Just when I thought I’d never want anything more than Craftsy and TQS (my favorites) with regards to online learning, I just stumbled on a new website with a ton of fun content to offer.

Define Success

One of the things I’ve been mulling over as I look back at these last eleven years is whether or not I’ve been successful in what I set out to do. And I started to realize “success” is rather an abstract concept, and not easy to define.

When life gives you scraps…

Whenever I see someone post a tip on “how to use your fabric scraps” I go running to see. Invariably I’m wrong. You see, it seems my concept of what scraps are is different from others’. Scraps for me are what other quilters –no matter how frugal– throw away.

I am a self-learner. I taught myself to sew and to quilt. And I taught myself how to draw. I love to dye my own fabrics, am a fanatic of free-motion quilting, and dabble with mixed media. I am a quilt designer and teacher, and design and publish my own line of quilt patterns. With this blog I would like to share the bits and pieces of my life.
