It’s been well over a month now of energy rationing. Initially it was to have ended by Dec. 1, then Dec. 15, and now we’re told “hopefully” by Christmas Eve. Patience. At least the rationing in my neighborhood takes place in the morning. Sitting in the dark at night is no fun.

The Best of Friends and Little Christmas
Known as Epiphany in the Christian calendar year, in Hispanic countries January 6 is also called the Day of the Magi, commemorating the visit of the Wise Men to the Baby Jesus. But probably most people would know this celebration as “Little Christmas.”

Oh, so delicate, christmassy candle mats!
2008 certainly turned out to be a year of English Paper Piecing addiction for me! Several hexagon table runners, placemats and tons of coasters have been part of the projects accomplished (and actually finished!) this year.

Advent Stoles
I love the Christmas season. It’s probably my favorite time of year. Not the commercial hustle-bustle and the frantic shopping usually associated with this holiday. For me, this is a time to stay home and enjoy meaningful time with the family.

Christmas samples and learning boutis
It seems incredible that half a year has already gone by and here we are in July! And so much of my time continues to be consumed by teaching, with little time left for sewing and other activities. With Alexia out on vacation, though, I have been lucky to have a great helper.

I know… it seems early in the year for Christmas projects. However, I’ve become addicted to English paper piecing lately and since it takes some time, I figured why not start something early and actually have it finished by Christmas time!

Tablerunners: One down, two more to go!
As a break between classes and whenever possible in the evenings if not too pooped, I’ve been trying to reduce my stack of UFOs. This week I finished quilting this Hexagon Star tablerunner I’ve had lying around for over a year!
