Along with my two other friends we got together for a couple of hours yesterday. We finished putting our 4-patch blocks together and then joined all the blocks to make the quilt top. It’s an interesting experience to work practically in silence, where at any other time we would probably be chattering away.

Petunia’s Case
You know how it goes… You make plans and set goals, as I did for today. And then the interruptions come. Sigh. Oh, well. I was at least able to finish Petunia’s case, just as Jamie walked in the door from school this afternoon. So we tried it on and it fit perfectly!
Sewing Plans for the Day
It is dark, cold, and rainy in Quito today. That makes it a perfect day to stay indoors and do some sewing!
A Prayer Quilt
Two of my quilting friends and I will be getting together this week to work on a special quilt for a little girl in deep need. This probably happens to you, too: quilting seems to invite us to meditate and pray. What is different for me this time is doing it as a group, and […]
Hibiscus
Inspired, I kept on sewing last evening… and was able to finish putting my Hibiscus top together. If I say so myself, it is quite lovely. Now it will have to sit for a couple of days, waiting for inspiration to come to me as to how to quilt it! (-:
January angel blocks finished
Thank goodness for a Thursday and with that a meeting of my sewing circle. Thanks to this “sacred” time set aside to sew and enjoy friendships, I was able to assemble my last angel block from the January installment of the Heavenly Angels project.
Oh, happy day!
Some days things work out perfectly… just as planned. Well, not really. At least not in my world. No matter how much I plan, I don’t always get everything done that I wanted or intended to do. So I’ve decided if I get most of it done – or at least the part that seems […]
First Heavenly Angel
Time to confess. One of the reasons why I decided on the Heavenly Angels quilt as our members’ BOM project this year was because I, too, wanted to sew it. Actually, I designed this quilt about four years ago, but just never got around to sewing it. So here’s my chance!
Valentine coasters and more hexagon fun
I sometimes go overboard. Especially when it comes to doodling and creating new designs. And as I planned our coaster series this month it was hard choosing what design to share. So I decided on four. Of course. I had another two ideas, but knew I should stop at that.
The Best of Friends and Little Christmas
Known as Epiphany in the Christian calendar year, in Hispanic countries January 6 is also called the Day of the Magi, commemorating the visit of the Wise Men to the Baby Jesus. But probably most people would know this celebration as “Little Christmas.”
Christmas Tea Party
Earlier in the year my mother saw fit to bestow on me part of my “inheritance,” consisting of three different tea sets she brought down with her to Ecuador over 50 years ago! They are now being put to very good use: every Thursday they are polished and set out for the “girls” in my […]
Sneak Peek
I am so excited about next year. We have not one, or two, but several BOM projects planned for 2009! Actually, more like Project of the Month. In some cases even project of the week.
Banana Cookies and Flour Sacks
A wonderful thing happens when I start my Christmas baking: as soon as the smell of cookies begins to invade the house, the number of visitors to my kitchen begins to grow. The only problem with this is that the freshly baked cookies quickly begin to dwindle, and more often than not I find myself […]
