Finished quilt sampler

So, with all the wedding hullabaloo, one of the things I had forgotten to post about is my Craftsy 2012 sampler. You’ll remember I started writing about it here.

A quilt sampler

Well, I’m finally back in the quilting mood! That is, as time allows… still. There always seems to be a lot of work that limits my sewing time. Plus running around that means more hours in the car now that I’m living out in the country. However, even though there are still quite a few […]

A long, long hand quilting project

I normally set aside one project to work on Thursday mornings when my sewing circle meets, usually a UFO. Sometimes the project chosen takes only one or two morning sessions to complete. Others take longer. And even others take forever.

Christmas sewing and knitting revealed

You will recall that during December there was very little I was able to share in the sewing/quilting/knitting department, as I was working on “top secret” Christmas presents. I am happy to say that not only was I able to make all the presents on my list, but I actually finished them on time, with […]

A finished quilt

We had a really nice Christmas. . This year it was about family. Yet even our “little family” still involved 10 people! 🙂 And now that all the gifts have been delivered, I can reveal the sewing and knitting that took place during November and December. That is… of those items I actually remembered to […]

Guess what? It’s time for the Blogger’s Quilt Festival again! And this post has to do precisely with my entry for that virtual quilt show.

Is this why I quilt?

Whenever asked why I quilt, the answer that comes out right from the gut is: “Because I have to.” There are so many other activities in life that I thoroughly enjoy; quilting is something beyond even that, an expression of self… And then there are all those other many (and valid) reasons: I love fabric, […]

One cheesy quilt!

Well, not really. Actually, not at all. Just a little play on words to describe Alexia’s latest production. Her quilt is now finished, washed and spread out on her bed, waiting for her return from the beach. I blame her mother for her quirky sense of humor. I mean, have you ever seen a quilt […]

Orange, turquoise, and black

I’ve finished Julian’s quilt top and have to say… I am loving this quilt! Alexia has also finished her quilt top, and I have to say it’s pretty cute. There’s a twist to her design, and I’m not going to give it away until it is actually quilted and finished. So without giving too much […]

A boy’s quilt

So this weekend has been set aside for cutting and piecing a quilt for Julian. I thought it was high time to start using those plaid fabric samples it took me so long to iron and store… So I pulled out the container and let Julian pick and choose the ones he liked best for […]

Bigger Ambitions

One of the things I enjoy the most of having the grand kids here is being able to share artsy time together. I myself did not have a quilting mother or grandmother to show me the ropes, so sharing this knowledge with grandchildren is certainly very rewarding. I can easily envision how they, in turn, […]

Lone Star Quilt

How old is your oldest UFO? Mine is over seven years old. And I’ve even thought of scrapping it several times. Mainly because of that dark blue fabric… I put the top together during my “blue” period. Everything I did was blue.

Autumn Wedding Quilt

Our good friends Jess and Charles (who have been Jamie’s home away from home this year whenever she needed a break from school) are getting married in the fall. And they have kindly accepted letting me make them a wedding quilt. They want it in autumn colors.
