I love sleeping under quilts. I keep a small lap quilt on my bed to snuggle under while reading or watching TV, or for nights when the weather gets particularly cold and I need some extra warmth.

Thursday sewing
Now that two of the dove projects are finished, my friends have started (or gone back to) new projects! Although Bachita has finished her dove project (well, except for the binding), she didn’t bring it with her. Hopefully she will next week so we can post photos of the finished project.
One finished dove
Susy was the one person in our sewing circle this last week who was able to finish her Dove project. Well, except for the eye, that is, which she quickly fixed by sewing on a button.
Quilting the Doves
For different reasons, our entire sewing circle had not been able to meet for over three weeks. In between, it’s just been a couple of us at a time, waiting for things to settle for our friends so we could return to our Thursday get-togethers. That finally happened this week.
A shocking confession?
Several years ago, when I first started quilting and discovered paper-piecing, I nearly became addicted to this technique. I loved the speed and the fact that it was a way to use up itty bitty scraps of fabric. Between then and now I don’t know what happened, nor where my aversion to this technique began. […]
Hand quilting and a little fabric shopping
Working on a project design to share later in the year as part of the Dimensional Flowers BOM, I felt inspired to start working on a larger project for myself. I know, I should be working on the quilt I started a couple of weeks ago (here), but I’m still not happy with it and have […]
Dove Progress
This week has been filled with computer work: designing and cleaning out my trusty machine. Jared is putting a new computer together for me, which finally pushed me to do some pretty necessary housekeeping, sorting out and deleting old files and folders.
A Mosaic Quilt
I am truly a privileged person. I get to live each day of my life exactly the way I choose, close to the people I love, doing the things I enjoy, and with no regrets whatsoever.
I like this purse!
Although strangely a new experience, I must say it’s kind of nice to find myself this close to Christmas not running around trying to finish things. Of course, there are no cookies to show off this year, and no last-minute gifts to rush through…
Making my own fabric
With our family reduced to a mere trio for Christmas this year, I haven’t done my usual baking and decorating. These are activities I prefer doing with the kids. For myself, I’ve put one little tree up in my studio, along with a few decorations and a pink poinsettia I bought myself over the weekend.
Christmas sneaking up!
I had a tiny panic attack Wednesday night when I realized our sewing circle would be meeting the following day for the last time before Christmas. Because of the hectic season, we have fallen into the habit of getting together between Christmas and New Year’s for our own holiday celebration, which involves a whole day […]
Faith – an Amazing Embroidery Project
While doing some blog browsing earlier today I came across this absolutely spectacular project. Over a three-year period, and with the work of almost 260 volunteers, this project reproduces a woman’s 17th-century linen waistcoat lavishly embroidered in silk and gold. Simply amazing.
Making my own cording
I am easily sidetracked. Which means it sometimes takes me longer to get something done than it should have. On the other hand, sometimes that sidetracking takes me down an interesting path!
