What I most enjoy doing with my time!

Itty Bitty Blanket Stitch

I am a really, really lucky person. Take my quilting friends, for example. As you know, I have a small sewing circle that meets every week. The women in this group were once my students, but after learning the basics they just sort of attached themselves to me (and I to them) and we developed […]

Playing with Fabric Paints

The good thing about using paints over dyes is that you can experiment A LOT on small amounts of fabric. Take my recent results, from playing around a little yesterday afternoon.

How to reduce your waistband in under 5 minutes

Now don’t go getting all excited on me, thinking I’ve got a great miracle diet going on here. I said waistband, not waistline! 🙂

Calorie free treats

Cooking is not my number one favorite thing to do. I would rather bake, but even that seems to happen only around Christmas time. Yet for the last couple of days I’ve been doing my own version of baking. And I’ve just pulled out some yummy cupcakes and cakes from my oven. 🙂

In a drawing frenzy

There are periods where it seems all I do – day and night – is draw, draw, draw. Ideas come to me, and I feel compelled to get them all drawn before I forget them. This is one of those weeks.

Open for business!

Thanks to my amazing techie (son Jared), our new pattern shop has gone live… two weeks earlier than planned! He has been amazingly patient in setting this up and helping me to learn a new system. So we’re ready to go!

Rather an odd number, I know. And no, it isn’t my house number. Neither does it belong to my P.O. box. It isn’t a pin number or a password. In fact, until now I hadn’t associated it with anything in particular, so it is a number I could easily forget. That is, until my techie […]

Yo-yos and beading

And a few sequins to boot. The last few days have been taken up by pretty mundane tasks. (And a girl has to work, after all!) So my little quilt was moved to the back burner for the time being.

Trying to get back to normal

As usual, things rarely go as planned. The good news: Jamie’s recovery has gone better than expected. Within two days she was almost back to normal, getting around on her own and requiring little help.

April Showers

Yep. It’s raining. Again. More like flooding. And I have to go out in a little bit. Not a happy thought.

Brrr… it’s cold!

It seems like the last three months around here it’s done nothing but rain. A couple of weeks ago we got high hopes that warmer weather was on its way, but no such thing. Day in and day out it just pours. Over the weekend there was such a downpour that several parts of the […]

More hooting owls

My friend Luchita has also finished her owl quilt. This sure turned out to be a popular pattern, didn’t it?

I am a self-learner. I taught myself to sew and to quilt. And I taught myself how to draw. I love to dye my own fabrics, am a fanatic of free-motion quilting, and dabble with mixed media. I am a quilt designer and teacher, and design and publish my own line of quilt patterns. With this blog I would like to share the bits and pieces of my life.
