1135

Rather an odd number, I know. And no, it isn’t my house number. Neither does it belong to my P.O. box. It isn’t a pin number or a password. In fact, until now I hadn’t associated it with anything in particular, so it is a number I could easily forget. That is, until my techie son Jared pointed it out to me. Read More »

Mother’s Day Every Day?

I hope you had a lovely, lovely day with your kids. From the comments some of you left yesterday, it seems you did. 🙂 And if everyone had a day like mine, I’m sure you’re wishing it was like this everyday! Read More »

Yet another election

Despite criticism and opposition from different sectors (and my own doubts on several political issues), I do have to say I live in an exceptionally democratic country. That is, if you use elections as one of the indicators for democracy. Read More »

Learning a new platform

We get a lot of requests for individual patterns. So in addition to our website membership Jared and I decided we really needed to open an online pattern shop this year. Read More »

Yo-yos and beading

And a few sequins to boot. The last few days have been taken up by pretty mundane tasks. (And a girl has to work, after all!) So my little quilt was moved to the back burner for the time being. Read More »

Trying to get back to normal

As usual, things rarely go as planned. The good news: Jamie’s recovery has gone better than expected. Within two days she was almost back to normal, getting around on her own and requiring little help. Read More »

Brrr… it’s cold!

It seems like the last three months around here it’s done nothing but rain. A couple of weeks ago we got high hopes that warmer weather was on its way, but no such thing. Day in and day out it just pours. Over the weekend there was such a downpour that several parts of the city flooded. Let me tell you… it’s wet. Read More »

More hooting owls

My friend Luchita has also finished her owl quilt. This sure turned out to be a popular pattern, didn’t it? Read More »

Ulu quilt

I’ve finished my little Hawaiian quilt (only 15 inches). I decided to go with a very simple version of the traditional breadfruit design. I had to know if I enjoyed the technique before committing to something larger. Read More »

Playing with Thread

Today I decided to try something new: making fabric out of thread. Using a water soluble stabilizer. I had already done something similar before, but in the form of thread painting to make some pieces to appliqué onto a background. This time I wanted to see how it would work to make a larger piece I could actually use as fabric. Read More »

I am a self-learner. I taught myself to sew and to quilt. And I taught myself how to draw. I love to dye my own fabrics, am a fanatic of free-motion quilting, and dabble with mixed media. I am a quilt designer and teacher, and design and publish my own line of quilt patterns. With this blog I would like to share the bits and pieces of my life.
