Your applique motifs look lovely. I’ve always loved the peaceful feeling that I get when i hand applique. It’s a calming technique. But I’ve also begun to do machine applique and enjoy that too-I get to see the picture develop more quickly. thanks very much for your giveaway.

Fall is my favorite time of year with clear skies and crisp temperatures. Hand Applique is very soothing — and forgiving!! I enjoy your patterns very much.

I am enjoying applique more and more. I’m finding that I can create any “shape, size or pattern” with applique and it’s wonderful.

    Simply – I love applique.
    Happy Fall.

I love autumn for the fall colors that Mother Nature puts on and the display of one last hurrah before the long sleep of winter. Autumn beauty means that spring rebirth isn’t far behind. To me, applique is almost the same way. You take a pattern and cause it to be reborn into a spirt of creativity. The designer may have “made” the pattern, but it is your selection of fabrics and the way you assemble it that gives his or her design life. Sometimes a little change in color selection can make a pattern look totally different than what is shown on its cover. You could sit 5 people in a room and have them all make the same pattern, and they each would look different. Just like autumn is different in each part of the world with its colors.

That is what autumn and applique mean to me. Hope you have a wonderful day and get to enjoy a walk in the woods to enjoy nature at its finest.

Fall is such a special time for me as each autumn marks yet another year in which I have been blessed to be cancer-free. I will always fondly remember the first “Walk for a Cure” I took part in with my five wonderful daughters so many years ago. Afterwards we all went to a park together and jumped in the mountains of fallen leaves, laughing like children. Yes, this time of the year is indeed special … I have cherished and loved 12 such autumns and many wonderful moments of “leaf crunching” with my beautiful girls!!!

I love Fall for its great colors, harvest and fun! It is a fun time of year when my favorite fruit ripens, pomegranates. I love pumpkins and decorating with them.
I love your appliques because they remind me of all of these. Thanks!

I love the autumn. It is one of the season I miss most here in Western Australia. I’m from Upper Michigan in the US. I love the autumn colours, rusts, browns, reds, yellows and orange. Throw in the dark greens as well 🙂 Your applique blocks would provide me with some of the things I miss from back home.

Although fall is not my favorite season in nature, I still love it, because for me, temperatures in fall are getting better for quilting. Evenings are longer and I like to sit next to the fire place, doing some hand applique.

What a glorious time of the year! The colors are bright, the air is cooler, apples are loading down the trees, walks are comfortable, the dust from the farmers plowing hangs in the air, and the garden is giving their last goodies to us. Plus, my last name is pronounced autumn which I really think is a neat last name. Patti

To me Autumn is a time of memories, the same colours can be used in Summer Winter and Spring appliques but that row of blocks screams out Autumn. I can see myself as a child, kicking up the leaves, looking for conkers and chestnuts and acorns, piles of leaves neatly raked and diving into them followed by the dog. It was the one season I missed when moving to Australia so many years ago, after over 20 years we moved to a cooler State and Oh how I still loved Autumn, I laughed with delight as I saw the fallen leaves and ran kicking them in the air as my kids looked on in shock at seeing there Mum gone crazy but they soon followed me and still after more then another 20 years talk of the delight they had in that first Autumn experience.

When I took up quilting recently, I presumed I wouldn’t like doing applique at all. When I finally tried some, it reminded me of the hand sewing I enjoyed when young. So now, whenever I hand stitch, I’m back in my childhood.
I love autumn because the sticky heat of summer finally fades, and I get to wear more clothes to keep warm! I also love the crunchiness of the leaves falling off the trees.
I’ve got all that to look forward to, as it’s actually spring here now.

Fall is my favorite time of year because it sparks the beginning of the holiday season for me. As nature paints a new picture everyday with all the rich fall colors, it’s a wonder to step outside or drive by the Virginia countryside and marvel at nature’s color changes and decorations that appear on doors and porches. I love sewing with fall colors and themes and as I think about it, most of my favorite projects are completed in the fall. Applique is so relaxing and personally rewarding because only you know how much time you spent completing the applique. The blocks displayed will surely give way to interesting and colorful fall projects.

Like like the autumn for it’s calm and yet vivid colours and the crisp air. That is, when it’s not raining 🙂 And the knowing of the winter and Christmas ahead. Somehow appliqué has become one of my favourite way to make quilts, and in the “old fashion” way as piecing blocks by hand. It gives me pleasure to do it by hand for sitting by the sewing machine sometimes stresses me out. Besides, my back doesn’t like it either. So looking at your row of autumn appliqué blocks makes me want to make blocks like that, NOW. 🙂

The only thing I like about autumn to be honest is the beautiful colors it brings to the leaves ….but applique..now we are talking..I love to applique by machine but I am now currently trying my hand at hand applique for some fun…it takes some getting used too…the cold and wet is setting in here in NY and most of our leaves have fallen to the ground already due to such heavy rainfall….thanks for sharing your beautiful God given talents..blessings

Fall has always been my favorite time of year. The weather gets cooler and I can spend more time outside. The colors of the leaves when they change and the fruit of many plants set on. I love orange and yellow as well as the rusts and browns of the season. I do miss the smell of burning leaves, but my olfactory memory is strong. Would love to have some of your applique blocks to commemorate this time of year.

I love applique because it’s the easiest thing and the most eye candy I know how to do. I love those blocks. Being as fall is my most fav season (smells-food, leaves burning, fresh air thru a window) I love sitting in my craft room, looking out my open window and taking it all in and getting ready for my grandbabies to come in their costumes.

I love fall because it tantalizes all the senses! It gives me a renewed energy to get things done before winter. I love the colors, the crisp bite to the air, the spicey smells and the lovely spicey tastes that all come with fall baking! Yum.
I’d love to receive those applique blocks. I like to applique; the quiet calming effect of doing it, but I’m not too good at it yet…I know, practice practice.

I love almost everything about fall. Well, maybe not raking up the leaves. But watching the kids jump into the leaves and play with them is fun. Your blocks are so beautiful, and so much work has gone into them, it’s a very generous gift to give.
Haven’t done a lot of hand applique, but have done quite a lot of hand restoration of antique quilts. Recently I worked on preservation of a 165 year old Log Cabin quilt in the barn raising pattern, one of the first quilts of this pattern made in the U.S. It was made with wool strips, cut on the bias, edges folded under, hand stitched to a foundation quilt. The stitching was done with just one strand of thread as though the quiltmaker were doing embroidery. The quilt belongs to a good friend of my brother’s. I had the quilt down to the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, NE, several times. The curator of collections there and the ladies who do the restoration of quilts were EXTREMELY helpful to me in working on this museum piece. So I do love hand work on quilts, it is almost hypnotic to me. mary6850 at gmail.com
P.S. Hope there is a return to a more normal life and stability in your country after the events of the past week. My prayers to you, your family, and your country.
